Get answers to common questions about Root Re-touch.

Most Root Re-touch services at StudioM take 30–45 minutes, depending on hair length, density and formula complexity. Consultations are brief; we use efficient techniques to deliver accurate color with minimal processing time so you can get back to your day.

Typically every 4–8 weeks depending on your natural growth rate, hair color and desired look. Brunettes often wait longer than blondes. Your stylist at StudioM will recommend a personalized schedule during consultation to keep color seamless and minimize damage.

When performed by our colorists using professional products and proper timing, Root Re-touch minimizes damage compared to full coloring. We assess hair health, use appropriate developers and recommend treatments to strengthen strands, ensuring maintenance without unnecessary weakening.

Root Re-touch focuses on matching roots to your existing shade; it’s not designed to significantly alter tone. If you want a tone change, book a color refresh or full-service appointment. Stylists can subtly adjust formulas for minor corrections.

We recommend coming with dry, unwashed hair 24–48 hours after shampoo when possible; natural oils help protect the scalp and improve color adherence. If hair is oily or product-heavy, our stylists will cleanse appropriately before starting.

Yes — if you are a new client or have had reactions previously, we perform a patch test 48–72 hours before coloring. This protects your safety and allows us to select appropriate products. Existing regular clients may not need repeat tests.
